Once we’re underway you’ll be treated to a delicious continental breakfast.
Upon arrival at the Molokini Marine Preserve the crew will pass out complimentary snorkel gear and flotation devices, as well as give a brief lesson or refresher course in snorkeling, to anyone who desires it.
Then into the water! Enjoy Molokini’s unparalleled visibility of 100 to 150 feet.
After your Molokini snorkeling adventure you’re invited to relax as we take a swift cruise to Maui’s fabulous Turtle Town, where green sea turtles, moray eels and other exotic marine life abounds.
While at Turtle Town you’ll enjoy a sumptuous, deli-style lunch, ice cold sodas and beer, or a Maui Rum Mai Tai before returning to Ma’alaea Harbor.
This five-hour Maui snorkeling adventure treats you to the best snorkeling experiences Maui has to offer.
Fun for all ages and skill levels!

How do you know about my reservation?
If you make your reservation on our website your reservation is scheduled automatically in our system. We also send out a confirmation email with all the details. Even though the Captain will have your name and info on his manifest and yuo can give your name at the dockside check in, it's best to bring your voucher with you to check-in.
What should I bring?
Your towel, sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, a light cover-up and your credit card, or cash, for tips and things you might wish to buy. Your valuables are safe on the boat. We’ve never had an on-board theft. Don’t leave valuables in your car.
What about wheelchairs and disabilities?
We do our best to accommodate everyone regardless of disability. If you have a specific need, please call us or make a note in “Special Information” on your reservation form. The Lani Kai is NOT wheelchair accessible.
I’m a vegetarian, vegan or I need another diet.
Vegetarians like our buffet. There are lots of vegetables, fruits and cheeses. If you need a different special diet, please let us know. Make a note in “Special Information” on your reservation form, or, to be really sure, call 808-244-1979. For special diets our caterer needs at least two days notice.
What if the weather gets bad?
The Captain makes the decision. If it’s safe, the boat goes. Maui weather changes fast; it can be windy, rainy and stormy all night and beautiful the next morning. Sometimes we make the decision the morning of the trip. If the Captain decides to cancel the trip you will be called, and you can reschedule or get a refund.
How much snorkeling time do we have?
On the morning trip three hours. In the afternoon it depends on the snorkeling location. Coral Gardens is two hours of snorkeling time, Molokini about one hour. When we slow to watch whales it’s a bit less.
Molokini – Turtle Town – Coral Gardens
Molokini is a sunken volcanic crater located between Maui and Kaho’olawe. There are numerous reasons people are excited about snorkeling here:
- The visibility is 100-150 feet. Imagine how clear the water is!
- The water is an unbelievable purple blue in the deeper areas of the crater
- You can see all kinds of colorful fish, like Humuhumunukunukuapua’ar
- See strange looking needle fish and puffer fish
- Sometimes we meet bigger ones like the harmless reef shark or white tip shark
- Beautiful red pencil urchins
- Black-blue sea urchins
Turtle Town is the nickname for all spots that turtles hang out along the Makena and Wailea coasts, and the Pali coast along Highway 30.
Here big turtles are hiding in caves or under rocks. They also sit in the sand on the bottom. Each boat has their favorite “Turtle Town”.
Our experienced Crew will tell you where to look.
There are several common reasons why people miss turtles:
- They mistake turtles on the ground for rocks
- They keep looking down and miss the turtle right in front of them
- They give up too soon – sea turtles have to come up for breath
This is our beautiful alternative snorkeling spot. We go when it’s too windy to go to Molokini because this area is protected from the wind.
95% of our afternoon trips go to Coral Gardens, because the winds come up in the afternoon.
Coral Gardens is along the Pali Coast, near the tunnel, on the road between Ma’alaea and Lahaina.
Here the coral is abundant. You snorkel through valleys and mountains of beautiful, healthy coral, follow colorful fish and sometimes, turtles.
Can I get there from the coast?
Not really. Coral Gardens is at the foot of a steep cliff. Not recommended, except for mountain goats and sheep.
