Directions to Makena Landing: Makena Rd, Kihei, HI 96753
Kihei – follow Hwy 31 to Shops at Wailea
Wailea – stay on Wailea Alanui and head south past Shops at Wailea
After approximately 1.2 miles, look for a large BLUE sign on the right side of road saying “Makena Landing.”
Turn right after sign onto Honoiki Street.
Turn right at stop sign and park on right side of road.
Look on ocean side for kayaks – park there.

 


Olowalu Directions - look for Maui Kayaks truck and kayak trailer alongside road between mile marker 14&15 on the west side (Olowalu).


DT Fleming Beach (turn at Mile Marker 31), meet at lifeguard station.
Directions to DT Flemings Beach Park - take Hwy 30 north of Lahaina past Office Rd in Kapalua. Take a left on the last road before the highway narrows to a 2 lane road.

The latter is also known as Red Hill or Little Beach and is a dormant volcanic cinder cone measuring 360 feet high. The base offers wonderful snorkeling along the lava rock and tide pools.     3+ hour kayak and snorkel trip along Maui’s North West side from Kapalua to Honolua Bay Marine Reserve where you will enjoy one of Maui’s finest pristine coral reef systems. Begin your adventure with a beach launch from DT Fleming Beach Park, just north of the Kapalua area. In a small group with just a few other kayakers and a guide, you’ll set off for the morning with snorkel gear stowed and paddle in hand. Follow the rocky, lush shoreline around Mokuleia Bay, also known to locals as “Slaughterhouse Beach” for the building that once stood above on the cliff. Listen as your enthusiastic and safety oriented guide shares the history of the area while pointing out the unique geographical features of the land. As your Honolua Bay kayak tour approaches the Mokuleia Marine Life Conservation District, there are areas of dense coral growths on either side of the cove in waters roughly 40 deep. Admire the small caves and archways that define the cliff edge. The mouth of the bay has a depth of about 60 feet with visibility so great you can usually see the ocean floor from the seat of your kayak. You can snorkel with excellent visability, see vibrant colored corals and hundreds of tropical marine life species.
