Wailea Activities

Wailea Hawaii Facts and Information:

Wailea, and the smaller Makena to the south, are resort areas on the south side of Maui, Hawaii, immediately south of the town of Kihei. They are known for their luxury resort hotels and condos, upscale restaurants, fancy shopping center and expensive golf courses. Choose from a large selection of beachfront, oceanfront and golf view suites and villas located throughout the Wailea area.

Wailea was named one of the country's 99 Best Recreational & Residential Private Communities in America. Many of Wailea's single-family and condominium complexes offer gated entryways for enhanced security and privacy. Utilities are buried underground, and roadways are landscaped. Nearby are Wailea's many amenities, including restaurants, championship golf courses, tennis facilities, shopping, and beaches. Wailea is home to several prominent resort properties including Grand Wailea Resort & Spa, Wailea Beach Marriott, Four Seasons Maui, Fairmont Kea Lani Maui, Wailea Beach Villas, and the Maui Prince.

Makena Beach, South Makena Rd (in Makena State Park 1 mi S of the Maui Prince Hotel, there are two parking lots on the W side of the road). A beautiful stretch of beach south of Wailea that is good for swimming. There are two beaches -- Big Beach, which is the main one, and Little Beach, which is over a hill at the north end of Big Beach. Facilities are limited with just pit toilets and a few picnic tables. It's a good idea to bring your own food if you want to eat as the concession trailer is not always a guarantee.

Heading out of town on North Kihei Road will bring you to Maalaea, where you will find several oceanfront condos and Maalaea Harbor, continue on the road West and you will access to the old whaling town of Lahaina and the resort areas of West Maui, Kaanapali, Kahana, Napili and Kapalua.
